Projects:
Rotorua District Review of Public Toilet Facilities
Visit and review of 72 public toilet and surrounding reserves in the Rotorua District managed by Rotorua Lakes Council. The project aims were to determine operational efficiency, recommend criteria for the establishment of any new toilets and recommend criteria for possible removal of existing facilities. All toilets were analysed and ranked based on sets of determined criteria and allocated a score to determine desirability.
Review of Leisure and Recreation Policies and Facilities on Rotorua Lakes
This report was commissioned by the Rotorua Lakes Community Board to help ensure that future growth around the lakes was well managed and that visitors have a quality experience. It brought together the results from a review of policies and facilities on the Rotorua lakes, particularly in relation to their support for resident and visitor leisure and recreation activities. Facilities at each lake were identified and reported upon.
Rotorua Employment Skills Project
The Rotorua Employment Skills Project was commissioned in November 2002 by Waiariki Institute of Technology, Work and Income, Tertiary Education Commission, and Rotorua District Council. Its two purposes were to gather information from local employers on job vacancies and skills needed, both now and in the proceeding five years, and to develop action plans to resolve sector-specific skill shortages. A large number of individuals and organisations participated in the strategy development process by way of a written survey, face-to-face interviews and industry sector workshops. With the exchange of information, this inclusive project strengthened relationships within industry sectors and between industry, education and training providers, central government agencies and local government.
